Baptism Challenge - Day 9

How to share your faith at your baptism - part 3

Welcome to Day 9 of the Baptism Challenge!

Here's the scripture in today's video: Romans 10:9-10

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (English Standard Version)

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (New International Version)

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (King James Version)

How to share your faith at your baptism - part 3

As you continue to work on your baptism testimony another good question to answer is, “How did God save me?”

Let's Read Romans 10:9-10. "Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."

God saves us when we place our faith in Christ, and openly confess with our mouths that:

  • Jesus Christ is God’s Son

  • He died for our sins

  • He rose again from the dead

  • He is our Lord, and no other

A Baptism testimony that acknowledges the plan of salvation

When we do that, God forgives our sins and saves us. Every man to have ever lived has sinned. We inherited our sinful nature from the first man, Adam, and our sin separates us from God. God loves us so much that He had a plan from the very beginning to bring us back to Himself.

God came to earth as a human being in the person of Jesus Christ and sacrificed Himself for our sins. He took the punishment that we deserved.

When you believe that Jesus really is God and that He gave His life for your sins, you will be saved. In today’s passage, Paul says, “With the heart one believes and is justified.” Some like to explain what justified means like this: God made it just-as-if-I’d never sinned. Praise God!

Do you remember the moment that happened in your life?

Then, confessing this Gospel before others, recognizes the Lordship of Christ in your life in a fresh way -- in front of the congregation and those who need to know Jesus!

Your baptism testimony can help those present understand that salvation is not by your own works, but by faith in Jesus... not because of anything you've done, but what HE has done for you!

Today's Baptism Preparation Challenge: Answer the question, “How did God save me?” Use the space provided in your journal to write some thoughts.
