New Start Discipleship Day 42

Welcome to New Start Discipleship. It is day 42, and we are in the book of Proverbs. Proverbs is the book that is in position in the Bible is right after Psalms. But it is a collection done by Solomon. Solomon wrote some of them, other places he found them and collected them and compiled them, put them into a Book of Wisdom. The Psalm, the book of Proverbs, a proverb is like a short pithy saying, with a lot of wisdom in it or something that's generally true about life.

So, Proverbs are these general aphoristic statements, that are generally true, things that are generally true and wise, and you should live your life by them. And so beautiful, beautiful book, very interesting, really written in order to mature young people into wise, responsible, stable, godly adults, alright?

So, it's a great book, to think on and meditate on and apply to your life and to really grow you up in certain areas. And it's a highly needed book today. So, in Proverbs 3, there's a beautiful couple of verses there.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don't lean on your own understanding, but in all of your ways, seek to know Him and He will make your paths straight”

Beautiful things. In the first part of the book of Proverbs, wisdom is personified. This is something you'll probably run into. Wisdom is personified as a beautiful woman. Something that's desirable and virtuous and clean and something that you should get a hold of you really should.

So, a beautiful woman of folly or foolishness, which is the opposite of wisdom is categorized or treated a personified as a loud, brash, ungodly woman who is not something maybe, maybe you might notice her, but you don't want to go with her. And so that you'll see that dynamic as wisdom is personified as the beautiful woman. Folly is personified as the loud and boisterous and disobedient women.

And then you'll run into another thing in your reading today where it will do a something called the adulterous woman or these the adulterous woman, the one who is ungodly. And it's a warning to young men, to stay away from that kind of woman, alright? And so just real practical lies, things. If you follow this kind of wisdom, you'll wind up doing better in your spiritual life, right? It's, you just wind up doing better, it'll stabilize you. It'll prevent some conflicts in your life, it will prevent financial difficulty in your life. That's what the book of Proverbs is about. It will teach you greater measures of self-control and the value of self-control, the value of knowing when to speak and when to be silent. Just a powerful, really, really fascinating book.

And then, at the end of the book, Proverbs 31 has a beautiful passage about ladies, about godly ladies, virtuous ladies, and it says that their worth is far above rubies. So, I commend whether you're a man or a woman, I commend this book to you Proverbs. All the different chapters in Proverbs 31, the description of the virtuous woman, the godly and wise woman.

So today, let's just let you jump right into it. Okay, short video today. God bless you. See you tomorrow.
