How to Make Disciples: NewStart Day 44 Transcript

The best New Christian Bible Reading Plan I’ve ever found is one that covers the highlights of the Bible in 50 days. It’s so important in making disciples in a small church, that you get people plugged into something that doesn’t get them stuck!

Here’s one of the disciple-making mentoring videos that I created to help a brand new Christian walk through the first 50 days of their walk with God. Below is the transcript of NewStart Discipleship day 44:

New Start Discipleship Day 44

Hey there, New Start Discipleship, Day 44. We are ready to roll and get started on day 44. There's a beautiful, beautiful readings today, specifically ones that focus in on promises about Christ, okay?

So, in the prophets, there's these incredible pictures, that as the prophets with the vision, the seeing that God gives them, they look forward in time, and they see something, they see it and they will describe sometimes what they see. And you'll see in these, in these descriptions, you'll see promises about the Messiah coming. So, in Isaiah 9, you'll see a promise of becoming King. And as Isaiah 53, you'll see promises about Jesus. And in description of the slayed and suffering servant, the Messiah, and beautiful, beautiful things.

So today, in Isaiah 53, especially the most detailed and beautiful description of the suffering Son of God, that was it is in all of the Scripture, describing what our problem is a 53:6 says that;

“All we like sheep, all of us, like sheep, have gone astray. And we've turned everyone into his own way.”

That's a very important phrase, my self-sovereignty is what leads me a decision when I want my way over God's. But then he turns it right back around and says, but the Lord has laid on him, this suffering servant, the Lord has laid on to him, the sin, the iniquity, the brokenness of us all. And then he says that,

“By his stripes, we have been healed.”

By his wounds, we are set free this incredible and beautiful picture. And so, it's kind of interesting in Jewish traditions. They don't always know quite what to do with this verse. The Jewish people who still worship, they don't recognize Jesus as their Messiah. They don't know what to do with Isaiah 53 very much. Sometimes they say, well, it's about the Jewish nation or whatever.

But it's so clear when you realize and you see it through the lens of Jesus. You see, oh, the punishment that brought us peace was laid upon him. That's what it says in Isaiah 53 these incredible and by his stripes, we are healed. Incredible, incredible idea, that Jesus came and took our place.

So today, short video, all right? Long as not too long reading that sort of little fast today, right? But I encourage you to, to just soak in it and be glad and rejoice in what God has done in Jesus for you and me. See you tomorrow.
